Cottage

This home is typical of the cottage style. In modern usage, a cottage is usually a modest, often cozy dwelling, typically in a rural or semi-rural location. However there are cottage-style dwellings in cities, and in places such as Canada the term exists with no connotations of size at all (cf. vicarage or hermitage). In the United Kingdom the term cottage also tends to denote rural dwellings of traditional build, although it can also be applied to dwellings of modern construction which are designed to resemble traditional ones ("mock cottages").

Country

Country house plans are similar to farmhouse style plans. They are usually two story with a covered front or wrap around porch. Quite colonial, the footprint is often boxy or rectangular shaped. Many country house designs feature a centred entryway with stacked single hung windows.

Farmhouse

This home features in our Farmhouse plans collection. Farmhouse is a general term for the main house of a farm. It is a type of building or house which serves a residential purpose in a rural or agricultural setting. Most often, the surrounding environment will be a farm. Many farm houses are shaped like a T. The perpendicular section is referred to as the ell. Architectural styles vary, but very often they are of Cape Cod design. In general styles vary from region to region, but more often the style is simplistic so to serve the needs (and the budget) of the owners.

Ranch

Our Ranch style house plan collection comprises single level homes with elongated elevations that suit placement on acreage or suburban lots, and the easy living open floorplans are ideal for families with both young and aging family members. The homes you'll see in this collection typically have a rectangular or L-shaped footprint, and low-pitched roof. They are ideal for placement of photovoltaics!  Take a look and tell us what you think.

Modern Farmhouse

Modern farmhouse style homes are a type of architectural design that combines traditional farmhouse elements with modern design elements. These homes often have a warm and cozy feel, and are designed to be functional and welcoming.
